UNITED WE DANCE
United We Dance was developed over a four year time period, as a result of youth groups within the Altgeld Garden Community coming together to enjoy each other and dance. As a dance coach at Carver Military Academy I wanted to have a way to bring all the youth together, dance and have a common goal, from that the idea of performing in the Bud Billiken was formed. I was in this parade as a teenager and attended the as a spectator for years.
2019 was our 4th year performing in the parade and we have become somewhat popular in the Altgeld Community Dancing all around the complex, the kids family members are very proud. Thee Carver park supervisor noticing our efforts over the years volunteered to sponsor our team and alleviate some of our barriers to participating in this parade.
